FRONTPAGE: “LOVE PARADE 1992” / BRAVO: “LOVE PARADE 92”
Two reports in the same period: one gives the aura of an underground movement in black and white photos, the other presents the event to the general public and German youth, filled with crazy outfits.

TEKKNO VON A bis Z
BRAVO: “Ecstasy Runde” (Ecstasy Tour)
The BRAVO report is a “techno-dictionary,” giving teenagers the most important terms of the techno scene. They included under the term “Ecstasy Runde” (Ecstasy Lap) the following, quite well informed description of a Berlin club tour: “The usual routine of Berlin Tekkno-Freaks. Begins with TV at 6 p.m. At 8 p.m. you fall asleep. Then at 12:30am it's off to the Tresor Club in Potsdamer Platz. At 3 a.m. you head from there in an (unlicensed) Trabi-Taxi for 4 D-Marks per passenger to the “Planet” on Köpenicker Str. At 5 a.m. you're off to the “Walfisch” in the same street. “Slow techno” is mostly played there so that your sore, tired dance feet can recover. Really hardcore Tekkno-Pros check out the gay club “Tom's Bar” in Nollendorfplatz until 1 p.m.”
A very suprising term that also pops up in the techno-dictionary is “HIV-Positive.” BRAVO writes: “The infection with the lethal AIDS virus is unfortunately considerably more prevalent among Tekkno-Freaks than it is amongst the rest of the population. Drugs that break down one’s inhibitions caused the spreading of the virus through unsafe sex.” This indicates techno’s conflation with the gay scene and the AIDS scares of the early nineties; in Germany, there often remains confusion whether the Love Parade is a techno parade or a gay pride parade.
